The surprise attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941 by the Japanese shocked the nation and the world. The event marked the beginning of World War II for the United States as the nation had played a neutral role before then. America's decision to rush into the war after these events thrust the nation into overdrive with everything and everyone aiding in the war effort; whole industries sprang up, people rushed to enlist into the military in every town across the nation, and at the time the people of the US cried for war.
